It seems that SECAM isn't the best environment for this effect.
It's a bit difficult to see, but could swear that every other line
is green in the cap of the bouncing Mario. Also there are occasional
red flashes directly to the right of both Marios. Maybe you could
create a version with only one object that can be moved around with
the joystick. Also it should be possible to stop the colour effect
with one of the console switches. Then the joystick button should
switch to the next display frame. That would make seeing potential
problems a lot easier. But it's probably not worth the effort for
a small market as the SECAM VCS.
