If we calculate it the simple way, applying a 4:3 screen aspect ratio to a resolution of 160x200, we get a pixel width:height ratio of 5:3 or 1.667:1. That's a bit chunky, but a full 2600 screen can be displayed at that ratio in an 800x600 window. 2:1 is indeed closer to reality than 1:1 is.
