Subject: [stella] Good old Tune2600 From: Kirk Israel <kirkjerk@xxxxxxxxx> Date: Tue, 2 Aug 2005 17:18:26 -0400 |
With the emergence of Batari BASIC (and porting my little JoustPong music engine to it) I've been thinking about the functionality provided by Thomas's Tune2600: http://thedig.dyndns.org/?action=message.view&message_id=8316 Thomas, can the source to that be made available? I think it might be worth trying to make it a little more approachable tune2600 /nc4d4e4f4g4a4b4c5 gave an "Illegal Note" error....is there something where "b" isn't treated the same way as in German notation as it is in American? So is that thing just knowing what the well-tempered frequencies "should be", and finding the set of closest matches for the 2600 frequencies for the notes desired? Experimenting it seems like different Atari waveform voices are more or less tuned the same, but sometimes there can be interactions between the waveforms... You know thinking about these little command line apps vs. my habit of making webtools...webtools add to the convenience but they're harder to preserve if something hanppens to the main site. I've been pretty dedicated (for over 10 years now!) to the maintenence of my site, but unless someone backs up my code once I'm gone, it might follow fairly shortly ... Oh well. Let me know what you all think about reviving and improving the Tune2600 idea... Archives (includes files) at http://www.biglist.com/lists/stella/archives/ Unsub & more at http://stella.biglist.com
