While it is nice to be able to use IE5 for client-side ms-xslt, the danger comes when a large client uses Navigator and is not willing to change their operations for your product. I've just spent the last two weeks rewriting a whole pile of xslt stylesheets so we can do server-side transforms. Now we I have to maintain two code bases - IE5 and true XSLT. Better to have used server-side in the first place. I know in my work place we would rather have this than wait for the "next(??)" version of Netscape. I support Microsoft in what they have done as it has allowed me to at least introduce the technology to companies I have worked with wihtout having to worry about hte browser being changed day to day - with greatest respect, I see this happening on this list every week ! (which isn't always a bad thing !). cheers, Steven Steven Livingstone Glasgow, Scotland. +44 (0) 7771 957 280 Professional XML http://www.wrox.com/Consumer/Store/Details.asp?ISBN=1861003110 Professional Site Server 3 http://www.wrox.com/Consumer/Store/Details.asp?ISBN=1861002696 Professional Site Server 3.0 Commerce Edition http://www.wrox.com/Consumer/Store/Details.asp?ISBN=1861002505 ----- Original Message ----- From: David Carlisle <davidc@xxxxxxxxx> To: <xsl-list@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Thursday, December 02, 1999 9:54 PM Subject: Re: XSL iteration > > > I would prefer a generic solution, but it should run on IE5 > apart from the letters x s and l there is by now essentially nothing > in common between xslt and the language-known-as-xsl-in-ie5 > so the idea of a generic xsl solution that runs on ie5 is rather > optimistic I fear. > > David > > > XSL-List info and archive: http://www.mulberrytech.com/xsl/xsl-list > XSL-List info and archive: http://www.mulberrytech.com/xsl/xsl-list XSL-List info and archive: http://www.mulberrytech.com/xsl/xsl-list
