They are allowed. Sounds like an encoding problem. Put the XSL somewhere and point us to it with a URL (don't paste into an email). Also, it's the XML parser that is generating the exception, not Xalan. Xalan is probably using Xerces for parsing. - Mike ____________________________________________________________________ Mike J.
