Simplest (if there is a fixed number of text files) is to make a small xml wrapper for each one, that includes the text file via an entity, and then you include the xml wrapper via document(). Alternatively if you have access to the server you fix things up so that instead of doing document(@txt) you do document(concat('http://localhost/xxxx',@txt)) and arrange that requests of that form return an XML version of the text file using a bit of server side scripting in a language of your choice.
