I agree, I finally got Jeni's book yesterday and it is awesome; not just one of the best XSLT books, one of the best computing books period. Right up there with Michael Kay's book, a true classic. Jeni Tennison's book "XSLT and XPath on the Edge" covers this sort of topic on p. 382ff. From what I have read so far of the book, it covers a lot of the FAQs on the list, in a readable style in a nicely-produced book.
