For a while, I thought the task was practically impossible. :-) The downside seems to be that using xsl:apply-imports in an xsl:variable crashes my Internet Explorer with MSXML 3.0. So much for that solution. :-( I don't know what I was thinking when I wrote the first problem. My real-life problem must have been slightly different; but don't worry about that; it's kind of complex to explain and needs quite some context. Anyway, thanks a bunch for your help and your time, and for shedding some light on all this! At least I know now that there's probably no trivial solution to the second problem. I'll do some research on the supposed MSXML bug and drop a note here if I find anything out -- if, of course, you don't already know about it...?
