Can someone explain / point to resources that explain how a xsl namespace is resolved and accessed A namespace is just an abstract set of names (in this case the names of the instructions in the XSLT programming language) You can't resolve it or access it. There is an html page at http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform but that is just some documentation for humans, and XSLT system never access anything at that URI.
