 as a delimiter in XML though is very fragile. a real newline would be normalised to #10 or #20, a space, in an attribute value) so you are relying on the fact that character references don't get normalized. This is something that you should be able to rely on (despite evidence to the contrary:-) but it does seem an odd choice.
