> am I losing anything by omitting the use of > xsl:apply-imports altogether? probably not. apply-inports is in xslt1 of course so survives to xslt2, next-match is a new 2.0 feature which is a bit simpler to understand and more general, so mostly I think people will use that rather than apply-imports except when updating xslt1 stylesheets.
