translate($string,
          'MR JOCK, TV QUIZ PHD, BAGS FEW LYNX',
          'mr jock, tv quiz phd, bags few lynx')

Or if you prefer, you can use "BLOWZY NIGHT-FRUMPS VEX'D JACK Q"
