MIME does get in the way of a posting if you're using the technique
of putting Approved: PaSsWoRd in the first line of the body.
MIME wedges itself between the headers and the first line of the
body, so Majordomo can't see the Approved: line you put there.
The solution that will always work is to put the Approved:
PaSsWoRd line directly in the headers. Your mailer should let
you do this. If it does not, then you can try one of the following
programs. Note, we provide these links for your convenience. We
do not endorse nor support the use of any of these products.
- Pegasus Mail by David Harris
- It's quite popular, free, and runs on most platforms, including
Windows, Macintosh, and DOS. It will allow you to add custom headers
to an e-mail message.
- DMOD
- This program is used for moderating a newsgroup or a mailing
list with a simple interface. It also lets you know when new mail
has arrived. Runs on Windows 95 and NT.
If none of this works for you, then you can do the following.
- Post the message. Don't include the Approved: PaSsWoRd line.
- Majordomo will BOUNCE it back to you. The bounce will have
the original message headers, followed by the body and attachments.
- Put the Approved: in the ORIGINAL message headers and
resend it to the list. That is, the BODY of the message you
are now sending to the list consists of:
- the HEADERS of the original message (plus the
Approved: line you inserted),
- the body of the original message, and
- any attachments.
- Majordomo will post the message that you've resent. It sees the
Approved: line, and also takes the Subject: and other
headers from the original headers.
