generating error messages

Hello dssslers,

I've been writing a dsssl script that does some checks on the SGML
document instead of producing any sosofo.

Now, I'd like to be able to produce error messages that tell the line
and column number in the input file.  (error ...) doesn't do it: it
generates an error message that mentions the dsssl script used and the
line and column number of the call in the script.

Is there some facility I overlooked or a jade extension that would
allow me to achieve what I want to do?
