fwiw, I have a similar system and a similar sized document, with some
small to medium tables and some RefEntrys (~25?) and it takes ~50sec for
HTML and ~24sec for RTF:
Machine: 2x180MHz PPro, 192MB RAM, Linux 2.0.30
golem$ cat *.sgml | wc
20096 61790 565924
golem$ time make postgres.html
(rm -rf *.htm)
jade -D commands -d /home/tgl/SGML/db107.d/docbook/html/docbook.dsl -t
sgml postgres.sgml
(ln -sf book01.htm index.html)
(ln -sf book01.htm postgres.html)

Don't know how to count tags, but I use a few of 'em :)
