I have also found that I use sequence and "use:", which isn't far from
declaring inherited characteristics:
(make sequence
use: defined-style
...)

Yes. I have used it with good effect, though I haven't found a case
where I used sequence to declare a characteristic to be inherited by
an SGML flow object.
