Brandon Ibach says: >When I first started thinking about this, I wasn't sure it could be >done, given DSSSL's side-effect-free nature. It is provable that anything that can be computed with an imperative language can be computed with a side-effect-free language, given the same input. >(On that note, can >anyone explain the devotion to this? I understand the basic >philosophy - a style sheet just styles, and shouldn't do anything else >on the side - but...) The basic idea is that you can always format the last page of a document independently from the formatting of the first page. As a comment on your solution: in general I will go to great lengths to allow Jade to do lookups and other processing because it is quite fast, and future improvements to Jade will improve my code "for free." That's why I use q-element, node-list-map and so forth so heavily. Paul Prescod DSSSList info and archive: http://www.mulberrytech.com/dsssl/dssslist
