This is the correct output. If you put the newlines after the tag closes,
Jade could inadvertently introduce extraneous record ends. By putting the
record ends inside the tags, Jade avoids any chance of data corruption.

You could use SGMLNORM or SPAM to reformat the documents after you generate
them.
