The initial value of inherited characteristics can be declared before
processing begins:

(declare-initial-value font-size    15pt)   ;inherited characteristics
(declare-initial-value min-leading   0pt)

Note the setting of min-leading allows the line spacing to stretch to fit
everything on the line ... you may not want to do that.
