XML Compliant

I am using the Docbook Stylesheet and Jade to convert XML document in
HTML.
I would like the HTML document to be compliant to XML in order to be
able to parse them.
The only big problem is the empty-tag...
How can I specify to generate a proper empty-tag with "/" at the end ?
