Hi Peiter We are developing such tool that is integrated in the future release of the Document Explorer. By GUI, do you mean some kind of form that present you a list of elements, then if you select an element you can set the type of flow object associated to it and all the characteristics associated to this object. When completed, the DSSSL code is generated. Is this what you think of a GUI tool? If you have any idea or suggestion, feel free to express your needs, I'll see how I can accomodate this in the actual design. PS: I'll be back monday, so I'll be able to answer you then. For couple days, I am on my bike for a 400 kilometers ride and no place for a portable :-) regards Didier PH Martin mailto:martind@xxxxxxxxxxxxx http://www.netfolder.com -----Original Message----- From: owner-dssslist@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:owner-dssslist@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx]On Behalf Of Pieter Rijken Sent: Thursday, July 15, 1999 10:33 AM To: Dssslist (E-mail) Subject: (commercial) applications using DSSSL Lately, I've been looking for products or tools based on SGML. Once you've created an SGML document, there comes a time you want to print it. For this most tools and applications (e.g. ADEPT, Adobe FrameMaker, Interleaf) I found on the internet use a proprietary 'layout' description/language for generating PDF, PostScript, whatever. The only tools for displaying SGML documents which are based on DSSSL I found are Jade and the DocumentExplorer. These are excellent, however, at my company most people are interested in GUI's and not ascii based editors (I don't see why, because the same people still write C-code in 'vi' or 'lse' (OpenVMS text editor) :-) but that's another question). My question is: Does anyone know of a (commercial) product which has a GUI for creating DSSSL? This would help a lot in convincing colleagues to use DSSSL! regards, pieter P.S. Is it doable to write such an application using Qt, Xt? From the DTD a grove structure can be determined (the SGML document itself is just an instance based on the DTD) which should then be mapped to SOSOFO's. Are there any libraries available for representing a DTD in terms of a grove? If this is silly I would like to hear that too! :-) -- Pieter Rijken E-mail: pieter.rijken@xxxxxx CMG Telecommunications and Utilities B.V. Division Advanced Technology Nieuwekade 1-19 P.O.
