Dear JATS-List subscribers --

Please try to provide an informative title or subject line on all JATS-List posts. Good subject lines - those that describe the subject matter of your message - not only increase the chances that you will receive answers to questions or responses to comments, they also make your message and any replies to it accessible in the list archives.

A good way to write a subject line is to write the message first and then form the subject line from the phrase(s) in the text of the message that most clearly identify your topic. These often occur after any "introductory" sentences, at the start of the real description of what you are trying to do.

And, specifically to subscribers to the digest version of the list, please do not simply reply to the digest. Instead:

  * to start a new topic, create a new email message with a descriptive
subject line, and send the message to <jats-list@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>

  * to reply to a message you saw in a digest, create a new email
message, copy the subject line of the message to which you are
responding as the subject line of your email, and copy only as
much of the previous message as needed to give your posting
context into your email. Then post your new message to

To encourage informative subject lines, I have changed the list settings so that messages with the Digest subject line (other than the original digest) will bounce.
