Hi all,

For an application we are building, we need to be able to distinguish
between departments and the institutions they belong to within
affiliations.

The description of <institution>, however, states "All levels of a
multi-tier organization are typically listed within a single
<institution> element." So departments should be within that tag.

There is a suggestion on the same page for making this distinction:

     As yet another alternative, the distinction can be made with
<named-content> elements:

       <institution content-type="edu">
         University of Frostbite Falls
         <named-content content-type="dept">
           Dept of Campus Security</named-content>
         <named-content content-type="dept">
           Dept of Moose and Squirrel Security</named-content>
         <named-content content-type="office">
           Office of the Acting Dean</named-content>
       </institution>

The problem is that, as far as I can tell, the content model for
<institution> allows only  and  elements.

Am I missing something? (likely!)

There is another suggestion on the same page to use multiple
<institution> elements with different @content-type attributes, which
may be how we'll have to go, but I liked the <named-content> solution
better.

Thanks, Charles
