Hi Franziska,
This might be a reasonable change for the JATS DTDs/schemas to allow <inline-formula> within <source>. Would you be interested in submitting a change request? It could also be helpful if you can include some examples of the titles that you are trying to tag in <source> in the change request.

This doesnt really help if you are trying to tag content today, but if this change is included in a future version of JATS you will be able to tag formulas in <source> without resorting to workarounds.

Dear all,
were using JATS Journal Publishing DTD v1.1.
Sometimes, we cant avoid having equations within article titles or book titles as part of bibliographic items/references (element-citation).
This works for <article-title> since <inline-formula> and <mml:math> are allowed, but when using this for book-titles (<source>), these elements are no longer available.
Do you have any experience how to deal with that?
