Hi Franziska, Mike, While this doesn't directly address Franziska's question, I do want to point out that the JATS 1.2d1 draft has four new attributes for keywords and subjects. These are modeled in NISO STS 1.0 (which went to NISO member vote yesterday). Please see http://www.niso-sts.org/TagLibrary/niso-sts-TL-0-2-html/element/kwd-group.htm l , attributes vocab and vocab-identifier http://www.niso-sts.org/TagLibrary/niso-sts-TL-0-2-html/element/kwd.html attributes vocab-term and vocab-term-identifier Similar new attributes appear in the subj-group and subject elements. These new attributes come out of a number of parallel discussions including how to best tag keywords, subjects, and ics codes in standards, and how to tag CRediT taxonomy in JATS. The JATS4R group may want to consider these attributes as they tackle Subjects and Keywords Best regards, Bruce At 09:08 AM 8/30/2017, Mike Eden meden@xxxxxxxxxxxxx wrote: Hi Franziska, A good question. We are not capturing the nested-ness of MSC codes, but do declare using @content-type if a <kwd> is primary or secondary. This is partly because the allotment of codes is not entirely standardized across titles. So this is not a recommendation! Perhaps your first example would work if you also used @content-type on <kwd>? JATS4R will be tackling the topic of Subjects and Keywords and would very much like to have input like this. I would go within <nested-kwd> as this is the only way to have a hierarchy: <kwd-group kwd-group-type="MSC"> <title>Mathematics Subject Classification 2010</title> <nested-kwd> <kwd>00A09</kwd> <nested-kwd> <kwd>26A33</kwd> <kwd>35R11</kwd> </nested-kwd> </nested-kwd> </kwd-group> But then I am missing the terms Primary and Secondary, which might now always be obvious. So, ideally, there should be something like nested kwd-groups: <kwd-group kwd-group-type="MSC"> <title>Mathematics Subject Classification 2010</title> <kwd-group kwd-group-type="MSC"> <title>Primary</title> <kwd>00A09</kwd> <kwd-group kwd-group-type="MSC"> <title>Secondary</title> <kwd>26A33</kwd> <kwd>35R11</kwd> </kwd-group> </kwd-group> </kwd-group> (or something similar to that) How do you handle this?
