Hi guys,

We've had one such case yet. We experienced problems with receiving
parties that could not work with the information when tagged as a
separate abstract. We ended up doing the following:

 B B B B B B B B B B B

 B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B <title>Abstract</title>

 B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B <p id="abstract-p1">

 B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B <inline-supplementary-material xlink:href="https://doi.org/10.1075/tis.18008.dem.video"; xlink:title="Abstract" specific-use="print"/>

 B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B <media id="abstract-1" mime-subtype="mp4" mimetype="video" position="anchor" xlink:href="https://benjamins.com/catalog/tis.18008.dem/video/abstract.mp4"; specific-use="web">

 B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B <caption>

 B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B <p>Sign language version of the abstract</p>

 B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B </caption>

 B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B </media>

 B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B </p>

 B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B <p id="abstract-p2">This article rethinks the impact of sign language interpreting services (SLIS) as a social institution. It starts

 B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B from the observation that baccessb for deaf people is tantamount to availability of sign language interpreters, and the often

 B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B uncritically proposed and largely accepted solution at the institutional level to lack of access seems to be increasing the number

 B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B of interpreters. Using documented examples from education and health care settings, we raise concerns that arise when SLIS become

 B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B a prerequisite for public service provision. In doing so, we problematize SLIS as replacing or concealing the need for

 B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B language-concordant education and public services. We argue that like any social institution, SLIS should be studied and analyzed

 B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B critically. This includes more scrutiny about how different kinds of baccessesb can be implemented without SLIS, and more

 B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B awareness of the contextual languaging choices deaf people make beyond the use of interpreters.</p>

 B B B B B B B B B B B

All the best,
Pieter
