Subject: result-tree vocabularies and non-XML serialisation From: "James Tauber" <jtauber@xxxxxxxxxxx> Date: Wed, 3 Mar 1999 08:35:04 +0800 |
I really like being able to specify non-XML serialisation via the result
namespace.
What I would like to see is people taking existing non-XML formats and
developing:
a) a namespace URI
b) a DTD representing the existing non-XML format
c) an output filter to convert documents conforming to the DTD into the
non-XML format
We already see this with HTML 4.0 in XT (and others XSL engines?)
Are people working on others?
For example, I would find it useful to be able to maintain the Makefile for
XMLSOFTWARE in XML (some of the dependencies are driven by the content of
XML documents and I would like to automate the making of the Makefile). The
best solution seems to be
a) come up with a namespace URI for Makefiles
b) develop a DTD for representing Makefiles in XML
c) write an output filter to convert documents in this document type
into Makefiles
Others I would use *right now* include such a tuple for procmail files and
for comma separated value (CSV) files. Others I can think of include Windows
INI files, Unix mailboxes, your favourite programming language...
If people are interested, I will start a new section on SCHEMA.NET for
these.
