Subject: About xsl:scripts From: "Didier PH Martin" <martind@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Date: Tue, 13 Apr 1999 20:26:48 -0400 |
Hi Guy, I do not want to restart all the arguments pro or con for scripts in XSL (this is not for you Guy for people who would think I am pushing the idea). So, just by curiosity, I thought that it is possible to create object but it seems that no. After thinking more about this I think that probably this is because, in certain ways XSL could compete with ASP and Microsoft do not want to create a competitor to ASP. If you have the capacity to create object, this would work well server side but not client side. To be able to create object on the client side is equivalent to a security hole. But not on the server. On the server, the capacity to create object is useful when you want to link to databases (this is what ASP scripts do most of the time). But if Microsoft is not afraid to create its own competition to ASP, they would have to provide two different XSL engines. One for the server (can create objects), the other one for the client(cannot create objects) This was just thinking on the possibilities and constraints of this keyword. regards Didier PH Martin mailto:martind@xxxxxxxxxxxxx http://www.netfolder.com XSL-List info and archive: http://www.mulberrytech.com/xsl/xsl-list
