Hi.

I think we'll have to agree to differ on most of the points. I can only
express personally that for myself I want formatting semantics for
formatting, and not HTML.

On your surmation of vocabulary I would prefer to reframe it thus...

GUY

Data Semantics (XML) -> Format Semantics (XSL) -> Rendering

OR

Data Semantics (XML) -> Presentation Semantics (XML+CSS/Other Renderable
ML) -> Rendering

HAKON

Semantics (XML) -> Confined Presentation/Document-centric Semantics (HTML)
-> Rendering.

Hakon, you are more than welcome to utilise your model. Nothing at the
moment prohibits you from doing so, but you'll have to excuse me if I find
my model more flexible both in terms of user agent presentation, and in
terms of domain appropriate semantics whether they be formatting OR
presentation.

The point of issue between us seems to be that you believe that HTML is
sufficient, while I maintain that HTML is wholy insufficient for the needs
of Web applications over the next decade both functionaly and in terms of
data model/semantics.

Semantics appropriate to the domain concerned I believe is the way forward.

Cheers
     Guy.
