Subject: excess whitespace From: Christopher Conway <chris_conway@xxxxxxxxxxxx> Date: Fri, 16 Jul 1999 10:16:54 -0400 |
I'm using XSL to convert XML to tab-delimited text and I'm having problems with added carraige returns. The code looks like this: <xsl:template match="/"> <xsl:text>FIELD1	FIELD2	FIELD3</xsl:text> <xsl:apply-templates /> </xsl:template> <xsl:template match="record"> <xsl:value-of select="field_1" /><xsl:text>	</xsl:text> <xsl:value-of select="field_2" /><xsl:text>	</xsl:text> <xsl:value-of select="field_3" /> </xsl:template> And the output ends up looking like this: FIELD1 FIELD2 FIELD3 data1.1 data1.2 data1.3 data2.1 data2.2 data2.3 data3.1 data3.2 data3.3 ... In short, I'm gaining newlines where none are indicated in my stylesheet. The bitter irony of this is that up till now, I've been having problems with whitespace getting excessively trimmed. I get this behavior with XT and Saxon, but not with XJParser. Is there something in the spec I'm missing?
