or, to answer your unasked one, yes you can add entities.


?xml version="1.0"?>
<!DOCTYPE xsl:stylesheet [

<!ENTITY nbsp "&#160;"> 
<!ENTITY sp  "<xsl:text> </xsl:text>">

]>

<xsl:stylesheet version="1.0"
                xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform";>

etc.

Then use the entities as needed.


If you want loads of 'em, try

 <!ENTITY % chars SYSTEM "oeb1.ent">
 %chars;

in the internal definitions, then you can pick them
up as needed.
