Either your parser/processor is buggy, or your code is. If you have a current XSL processor (i.e., not the old IE5 one), the following should work: $java com.icl.saxon.StyleSheet test.xsl test.xsl $Value of xml:lang = en test.xsl: ========= <xsl:stylesheet version="1.0" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform"> <xsl:variable name="v"><x xml:lang="en"/></xsl:variable> <xsl:template match="/"> <xsl:message>Value of xml:lang = <xsl:value-of select="document('')//@xml:lang"/></xsl:message> </xsl:template> </xsl:stylesheet> Steve XSL-List info and archive: http://www.mulberrytech.com/xsl/xsl-list
