Subject: Please trim quotes of XSL-List posts From: XSL-List Owner <xsl-list-owner@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Date: Fri, 31 Mar 2000 20:00:28 -0400 (EST) |
Recent posts have included entire XSL-List posts nested three or four levels deep and 100-line posts with two lines of new material. Trimming your quotes and replying directly to a portion of a previous post makes your point more obvious. Not trimming your quotes wastes the time of the people who read the entire quoted message firstly to find the context of your message and secondly to see if you have added any other new material. It also wastes the time of the 750 XSL-List Digest subscribers who have to scroll past the material that you didn't bother to cut. Lastly, it wastes the time of anyone looking at your message in the archive, since they've also got to work out the context and find where you've added new material. Please do not quote entire messages just to add a few lines at the beginning or end. Instead, quote the parts to which you are directly replying or quote enough to establish the context.
