Thanx Mike, > use <xsl:number value="position()" format="a."/> > Mike Kay I have used that, but even that produces the original node position sequence. If according to the IF condition I skip some of the nodes, I wanted the selected nodes (that satisfy the IF condition) to pick up the new sequence. Its a little complicated atleast for me as I am a beginner in XSL, but still I am working on it. And I needed some ideas which I can use in it. -Saif.
