taking out <?xml version="1.0" ...> statement from output in Xala n

I've been looking for a way to take out <?xml version="1.0"> statement from
output.
I use Xalan's extension of <xalan.write> to writing multiple output files
and each output files start with this statement.  I'd like to remove those
line.
Has someone manage to disable this?
