I needed to resolve qname references on XML Schema Compiler back in April 2000(http://sourceforge.net/projects/xsdcomp). Unfortunately, I didn't update the public code after I fixed the problem. I will try to update the code tomorrow (but I have said that before) which does a whole lot of qname link resolution. Basically, the secret is the Section 5.4, Namespace Nodes, in the XSLT spec.
