I want to do this:
<xsl:attribute name="sql:field">
<xsl:value-of select="@type" />
</xsl:attribute>
probably it would be easier just to do
sql:field="{@type}"
as an attribute on your literal result element, but in either case
before you can use th esql: prefix in your stylesheet, you need
to declare it as a namespace prefix (to the correct namespace)
so add xmlns:sql="whatever namespace you want" to your xsl:stylesheet
element.
