Content that you want written to the result tree needs to be inside a
template. I usually use a root template to create enclosing elements such as
your <newaaa></newaaa>
Try this:
<xsl:template match="/">
<newaaa>
<xsl:apply-templates/>
</newaaa>
</xsl:template>
