[xsl] sorting by date

I've got a little problem that I've just spotted, and hoped you might help
with?

I need to order my results in date order, except the date data is in an odd
format.

<RetrieveTransactionHistory2RSResponse>
    <Result>0</Result>
    <NoOfItems>10</NoOfItems>
        <Items>
            <Item id="1">
                <Date>02111998</Date>
            </Item>
            <Item id="2">
                <Date>07071999</Date>
            </Item>
            <Item id="3">
                <Date>22121999</Date>
            </Item>
            <Item id="4">
                <Date>02111998</Date>
            </Item>
            <Item id="5">
                <Date>02111998</Date>
            </Item>
            <Item id="6">
                <Date>02111998</Date>
            </Item>
            <Item id="7">
                <Date>02111998</Date>
            </Item>
            <Item id="8">
                <Date>17042000</Date>
            </Item>
            <Item id="9">
                <Date>11011999</Date>
            </Item>
            <Item id="10">

So is it at all possible for me to sort these results into descending date
order?

Not to actually convert the XML, but to read from the XML in this order.
