I was incorrect in the difference noted between xalan and XT. The difference was XT does not support the "key" function. I'm assuming this is because it was finished before the XSLT spec. Note that it's not really the parser that you are concerned about here, many of the systems can use different XML parsers (eg any sax compliant parser) If you are using an extension feature in an extension namespace for one particular system, then clearly it will only work on that system.
