Hi
Suppose i have to use an xsl value to form a combine key id for the table i am creating: -

xml structure

<A>
 <b>value1</b>
 <c>
    <d>value2</d>
    <e>value3</e>
    <f>value4</f>
 <c>
</A>
...

<xsl:template match="a/c">
ID tag = <xsl:value-of select="a/c/d"/><xsl:value-of select="a/c/e"/><xsl:value-of select="a/c/f"/>
</xsl:template>

the output of this would be:
ID tag=value2value3value4
ID tag=.....

my question is, is there a way that i could assign the value of this id tag to something less 'longwinded' to an unique number giving the following output result instead:

ID tag=2
ID tag=3
ID tag=...

thanks you for help

Regards
Kit
