If you mean:
<xsl:value-of select="xxx" />() {<xsl:text />
<xsl:value-of select="yyy" />
Then that was David Allouche, not me :)
The more sensible XSLT 2.0 way is:
<xsl:text><xsl:value-of select="xxx" />() {</xsl:text>
<xsl:value-of select="yyy" />
Although of course you could just use concat() to solve the whitespace
problems instead:
<xsl:value-of select="concat(xxx, '() {', yyy)" />
