Have a look at Response.CharSet = "utf-16". That will get the html from the asp in sync with the html produced by the transform. Then in the header add <META HTTP-EQUIV="Content-Type" CONTENT="text/html; CHARSET=utf-16"> If the old parser defaults to utf-8 then use utf-8 instead of utf-16.
