Attribute sets won't help here because the attributes were optional:

<xsl:template name= "attributes">
  <xsl:choose>
    <xsl:when test="@font-size">
      <xsl:attribute name="font-size">
        <xsl:value-of select="@font-size"/>
      </xsl:attribute>
    </xsl:when>
    <xsl:when test="@text-align">
      <xsl:attribute name="text-align">
        <xsl:value-of select="@text-align"/>
      </xsl:attribute>
    </xsl:when>
 </xsl:choose>
</xsl:template>

Although having said that, in this example the 'font-size' and
'text-align' attributes are just being copied so the whole thing could
be done with:

  <xsl:copy-of select="@font-size | @text-align" />

Cheers,

Jeni
