Not a very helpful error message from your XML parser:

<text>&#xD</text>
<text>&#xD;</text>
          ^
          missing semi colon

(You are better to use xA rather than xD to denote a new line as all XML
parsers normalise CR, LF and CFLF pairs to xA.)
