  <xsl:when test="_literal_ = '*'">

  <xsl:when test="_literal_ = '/'">

  </xsl:when>

  <xsl:when test="not(_literal_)">
  ...
  </xsl:when>

by the way it is not different forms of a tag, it's different forms of
an element (or element content) the tag is the same in each case :<term>

XSLT can not see th etags at all, which are just part of the markup in
te hfile, not part of the tree that XSL sees.
