Its implemented in the Renderx product. To transform a Unicode character to uppercase/lowercase, XEP uses Java methods Character.toUpperCase()/Character.toLowerCase(). Therefore, in order for this property to work as expected, you should use correct Unicode values for glyphs in your fonts, and set up locale information in your Java machine properly.
