Because the XSL-FO interpretation is arms-length from the XSLT transformation, one must always express the desired conditional processing in the stylesheet before the XSL-FO processor acts on the resulting transformation. An example of such conditional processing is the set of "keep" properties.

No there is not. You need to give the FO processor contingencies for being at the start of a page, rather than asking to go to the start of a new page.


You haven't described *why* you need to do a test ... chances are if your formatting requirement is quite ordinary that XSL-FO will be able to do what you want with a particular property or two and that you are only asking your question in the incorrect way.
