Have you confirmed there is, indeed, a <computer> grandchild whose owner= attribute is byte-for-byte identical to the value in your variable $searchparam? If there are any Unicode differences in the characters represented by your encoding schemes of your source file and stylesheet file, then they will not be considered equal.


You need to show more of your code and your data to get help on what is going wrong.
