As the spec says, you call it xsl:xpath-default-namespace if it's used
on a literal result element, but xpath-default-namespace (sans prefix)
if it's used on an XSLT instruction.

Example:

<xsl:for-each select="a/b/c/d"
xpath-default-namespace="http://example.uri/";>
  <xsl:value-of select="e"/>
</xsl:for-each>
